St. Raphael Prayer for Healing, Guidance, and Protection

Saint Raphael is one of the seven archangels who stand before the throne of God. He is known as the patron saint of healers, travelers, and matchmakers, celebrated for his role in the healing of Tobit and guiding Tobias in the Book of Tobit in the Apocrypha. The story of Tobit reflects themes of God’s providence and the intervention of angels in our daily lives. In the spirit of St. Raphael’s intercessory role, this prayer seeks his guidance and protection, invoking his assistance in healing, traveling, and in matters of relationships, as per the traditions associated with him.

The concept of angelic intercession and protection is echoed throughout the Bible. Psalm 91:11-12 states, “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” This prayer to St. Raphael is a request for such angelic guidance and assistance, in line with Christian tradition of seeking the intercession of saints and angels.

As we pray, we remember the words of Hebrews 1:14, “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” We thus seek St. Raphael’s intercession as a ministering spirit, appointed by God to aid, heal, and guide us in our earthly journey.
